A.  A Teenager With a 59 Vette?

While I was at College I received a call from my father who announced that he had just purchased a 1958 Corvette "project."  I was a bit taken aback as neither of us were particularly "Corvette Guys," although we were "Chevy Guys."  But cars are cool and I couldn't wait to see it.  It turned out to be quite a project, but what a great father/son experience and I was then bit by the Corvette bug.

I was fortunate enough to have parents who paid for my college education.  I had to pay living expenses, but I'm a pretty cheap date and I worked at a local machine shop many hours during the summers of college, so I was able to bank my money.  With that and a small loan from my father I found a 1959 Corvette for sale and bought it so we could both have Vettes.  It was in mid 1979 when I bought the Vette and paid a staggering $5,500 for it.  It was in great shape, just a bit tired.  At some point in its life it had been repainted a hideous metallic black with yellow coves (it was originally a red car) and had some chrome added to it.  The body was straight and is a no-hit body so it was taken care of.

So, At the tender age of 19 I was the proud and lucky owner of a 1959 Corvette that I still have today.
